A record of all of the little details that I'll inevitably forget to put in their baby books.

Ear Tubes
Just wanted to let everyone know that Will's ear tube procedure went fine yesterday. He was a champ and mom and dad survived too. He was pretty angry when he came out of the anesthetic but he settled down once we got home. He took a long nap in the morning and then spent the rest of the afternoon rearranging the cd's in the entertainment center and trying to play with the toilet brush (gross!). Here's hoping that the tubes will mean that we don't have anymore ear infections for a while.

Happy Easter!
Happy Easter everyone! We had a great weekend and Will enjoyed his second Easter holiday very much. Last Easter we didn't even make it to church because Will was awake from 2 a.m. until 9 a.m. I remember thinking at the time "aren't babies supposed to sleep more than this?" This year the whole family made it to the sunrise service at church. We spent the rest of the day hanging out at home and snacking on Easter candy. Will spent some quality time going through the drawers in the bathroom, which is currently one of his favorite activities. Yes, that's a makeup sponge in his hand. He also had fun with his giant blue dog, which was a birthday present from Grandma and Grandpa Hansen. He's only had it for a few days but he's already figured out that he can stand on the seat while holding on to the handlebars. I tried to get a picture of him "hot-dogging" it but he kept sitting down every time I brought the camera out. Please don't buy this kid a motorcycle or a snowmobile or anything with an engine.

Yesterday was Will's First Birthday and he had a great time. We had his 12 month check-up at the Dr's office yesterday and here's a quick update on his statistics. He's 25 pounds and some ounces and 31 inches tall. That puts him at the 85% for height and 90% for weight. So I'm going to have to alter my dreams of him being a wide reciever in football. Now I'm thinking either linebacker or tight end, which means he'll have to tackle and block more which could lead to him getting hurt so football might be out of the question. On the basketball side, he can play the forward or whatever it is they are calling that position these days. With his body type, he'll probably have a nickname like "Tank" or "Brickhouse" and he probably won't be a great 3-point shooter but he should have a strong presence inside. Of course, he can do whatever he wants and play the tuba, become a professional bass fisherman, or join the drama club and his parents will still love him.
In honor of his birthday, we gave him a little bit of ice cream after dinner and it was a big hit. He's clearly my offspring.
Next Wednesday (3/26), Will's getting tubes in his ears. He's currently battling ear infection #5 and after seeing an ear/nose/throat specialist, we decided to go ahead and get the tubes done. It sounds like a pretty quick and easy procedure and we're hoping that it will help prevent him from getting so many ear infections in the future.
Check back in a few days for more pictures from his week long birthday celebration.

Yesterday we had a little party for Will's first birthday. The highlight of the afternoon (for me anyway) was giving him his first cupcake. He was a little tentative at first but he eventually dug in. Glenn tried substituting watermelon for the cupcake but Will ate both.
Here's the traditional post cupcake shot. Yes, that's chocolate frosting on the wall. I think that's the smile of a true choco-holic.
Here's Will helping Aunt Vicky with some legal work. Will's typing is a little rudimentary but she says that he's very helpful.

Happy St. Patrick's Day - hope you all are wearing something green and overeating. We had a great weekend. On Thursday, Maria, Alena and Ben came to visit. Will had a great time with his cousins and aunt. They brought him some early birthday presents. You can see his camoflauge tank top and shorts outfit. He looks like he's ready to hop on a four-wheeler and go shoot something!

File this one under "reasons why Will's going to hate his parents when he's older." We're having a little celebration next week for Will's first birthday and the theme for the party is "Spring Turkey Hunt." We wanted to stage a photo for the invitation so we took Will outside on a relatively nice Saturday morning to get the best shot. However, he was not impressed with our fake turkey hunt and didn't hesitate to let us know. It took us a few minutes, but we eventually coaxed out a smile.

So it's been a year since this blog was created and given the lack of posts since then, you can tell that Glenn and I have absolutely no computer knowledge. BUT, we recently updated our computer and it felt like a good time to revive Will's blog.
Here are a few pictures from his photo session at Sears today. He was quite the baby model for a good 15 minutes and then he stopped being so smiley for the camera.
I can't believe my little guy is almost ONE! It's been a crazy, exhausting, and exhilirating year.
