Will's first trip to the . . .

emergency room happened this weekend! Long story short, he spiked a pretty high fever Friday night (103.8), we couldn't get it down through the night, called the doctor again Saturday morning and he recommended a trip to the ER. Got to the ER around 9:00 a.m. and stayed there for what felt like a year and a half, but was actually only about 4 hours. After several blood tests, 2 x-rays and four failed attempts to get an IV in his arm, they admitted Will to the hospital with pneumonia. Will and I stayed the at the hospital last night with the devoted help of his Aunt Vicky and came home this afternoon. He's doing really well. He's on some heavy duty antiobiotics and a breathing treatment (all of which he hates) but he's getting stronger by the minute. Glenn left for his last hunting trip of the season on Saturday morning so he missed the excitement but was a steady voice on the other end of the phone when I was having my mommy-freakout moments. He offered to come home several times but we had everything under control.

We have some pictures that Aunt Vicky took that I will be posting later. Will looked pretty cute (all things considered) in his little hospital gownl. Right now, it's a little too fresh. Thanks to all who sent prayers and good wishes our way. I hope this is our last trip to the hospital for a very long time, or at least until mid-February.

Wild night at the Pauley Household

I've been a bad bad blogger! The last few weeks have been so crazy that I haven't had time to type or take pictures. We have officially closed on our new house and we're all moved in. We didn't end up closing until last Friday (long story) but we celebrated by doing some furniture shopping. Sadly, none of the furniture will be here for at least a few more weeks but we're starting to make the place look like home. I haven't taken a solitary stinkin' picture yet but I'm working on it.

Glenn was in Sheridan for work last night so Vicky and I had some fun with the pets and Will. First the cat . . . Then the pug . . .

and finally the Will!

As you can see, we spared Canyon. She deserves some dignity in her old age.

Will hit another milestone this week. We had to take him to the doctor on Tuesday just to make sure that he didn't have the croup. It was one of those doctor's appointments that make me feel like the mother of the year because he's running around, laughing, pulling out all the sterile stuff from the drawers, weighing himself, etc., and I'm the one saying "Oh, he's been really sick! Honestly!" Anyway, he didn't have croup. But the doctor commented on his shirt and asked Will if he could have one just like it and Will's very clear response was "NO!" It was his first official "no." He'd been saying "nien" (a nod to his German ancestry we think) or "neh" but this was a definite no. Since Tuesday it's been his official favorite word. Aren't toddlers fun?

Happy Halloween!

These were the only two pictures I managed to snap of Will still wearing his Halloween costume. He was apprehensive of the whole Halloween thing at first but once he figured out that there was candy involved, he got on board! Glenn took him around our new neighborhood while I manned the door at home. We thought he made a pretty cute puppy dog.
We had a nice weekend. Unpacked more of the house and it's finally starting to feel like home. I'll try to take some pictures of our new digs soon.
